Here is a place where BHS Science Teachers can communicate with students and parents of the Berlin Community.  You will find useful information about course selection and the offerings of the department.  Some teachers post regular assignments and others make announcements of class activities.   You can subscribe to a teacher's blog to be kept updated on class activities or just browse the site for the latest in BHS Science activities.

Science Dept. Reading Assessment in October.

Each department at BHS will administer two Reading for Information Assessments during the 2008-09 school year.   October is one of the months assigned to the Science Department.   The Science Department assessment will take place on October 17 for the entire department.  Students will read a short selection and answer multiple choice and open ended questions designed to assess the students ability to extract meaning and content from the reading.  Students' work will be assessed using the State Department of Educatinon - CAPT Rubric.   This assessment is part of the Science department goal of developing the students' ability to extract information and meaning from a reading selection.

Total Lunar Eclipse February 20th (Wednesday)

The eclipse will be in its totality from 10 p.m. to 10:52 p.m on February 20th. During that time, the earth blocks the sun's rays to the moon. As a result, the moon is expected to take on a reddish or orange appearance.

This will be the last total lunar eclipse until December 2010.

Enjoy!
